OPSWA Board of Directors


Chairman ~Ellen Corsini-Chappel, RN, BScN, COHN


Ellen's nursing background includes Critical Care and OR Nursing, Community/Visiting/LTC Nursing and Occupational Health and Safety.

Currently, Ellen is a faculty member in the Personal Support Worker Program at Mohawk College. Her responsibilities include theory and skills instruction in the classroom and clinical supervision of students in the clinical setting.

Ellen has a vested interest in the education, development and recognition of Personal Support Workers entering into the Health Care Field.

 


Co-Chair/President ~ Miranda Ferrier, PSW


Miranda completed the Personal Support Worker Course at Mohawk College, Hamilton. Upgrades include Palliative Care, Dementia, Infection Control, Cognitive Impairment, Resident abuse and Mental Health, Corrections Counseling.

Miranda has worked in Long Term Care and Home Care. She currently provides Private care for a MS patient and CP Patient. Miranda has seen the need for a voice for fellow PSWs and those they care for.

Miranda has become the voice for Personal Support Workers with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Ministry of Labour and HealthForceOntario. Miranda has also brought awareness of PSWs to the public through Media Interviews and speaking engagments.

Miranda believes PSWs deserve recognition and respect for what they do.

Holly Dixon - Executive Director/ Treasurer


Holly comes to OPSWA as a Co-founder of PSW Canada(2007). Holly is a book keeper by day and an advocate for those in need the rest of the time.

Holly comes from an extensive background in business and has brought professionalism and excellence to the OPSWA Team.

Holly believes in PSWs, the care they provide and lifting them up will make all the difference


Board Member ~ Cheryl Fry


Cheryl studied English at Memorial University of Newfoundland and has acquired her certification as a CHRP – Certified Human Resources Professional. As a fan of lifelong learning, Cheryl has pursued studies in advertising, marketing, sales, management and leadership. Cheryl’s passion is to provide respect and dignity for elders, and peace of mind for their families.

Cheryl has extensive experience in business and Human Resources Management. She knows people and understands client service. Her expertise is in building professional teams that are motivated and engaged, and committed to high standards and continuous performance improvement.
