Become a PSW Member
Eligibility for Membership
To be eligible for membership with OPSWA, Personal Support Workers must provide the following upon enrolment:
- Completed approved application
- Proof of Personal Support Worker certification
- Two pieces of government issued ID (at least one must be photo ID)
- Proof of Canadian work status
- Recent employment information
- Current police check ~Vulnerable Sector ~ Less than 6 months old**
- Payment of annual membership dues
** Due to recent delays in processing police checks, OPSWA is granting an additional 90 days after membership approval to produce a police check**
Retaining Your Eligibility
To retain membership eligibility with OPSWA, Personal Support Workers must provide the following annually:
- Payment of annual membership dues
- Any new employment information
- A Signed declaration that you remain in good standing in regards to your police check.
- Members must abide by the Association's Code of Ethics during their tenure with OPSWA.
Additional Optional Information
In addition to the required information listed above, members of OPSWA may also provide the following optional information to be kept on file with the Association:
- Employment references
- Resume
- Certificates of upgrading and/or ongoing training courses taken
OPSWA strongly encourages its members to participate in ongoing training and upgrading opportunities, and will make every effort to provide the most current information to its members on the training and upgrading courses available in all regions of Ontario.
OPSWA reserves the right to deny or revoke membership with the Association for failure to meet Eligibility Requirements and/or failure to abide by the OPSWA Code of Ethics.
